Dan Priatko, '80 was honored as one of Norwin’s Distinguished Alumni in 2018. Many of you know Dan Priatko and his compelling life story. A Norwin High School and United States Military Academy graduate, Dan was critically injured in an automobile accident while on a return trip home from visiting West Point. Dan has never given up, and he continues to be an inspiration to many.

Annually, during the week of Norwin’s Homecoming Celebration, the Norwin School District Community Foundation sponsors the Days of Giving (DoG) to raise funds to support Norwin’s students and programs.

NAFA Veterans Day Shirts Help Support Pittsburgh's Pets for Vets

Thanks to the overwhelming support of the Norwin community through the purchase of our Veteran’s Day t-shirts last fall, we’re proud to announce that we were able to make a donation to the Pittsburgh chapter of Pets for Vets. The Pittsburgh chapter of Pets for Vets is part of Animal Friends, a non-profit companion animal resource center founded in 1943 to provide a safe refuge for the animal companions of soldiers as they left for World War II.

Honoring Veterans Day in the Norwin Community

This Veterans Day, consider spending time at two of the Norwin area’s hometown veterans memorials such as the Norwin Area Veterans Memorial, located beside Norwin High School and dedicated to Norwin graduates who gave their lives in military service to our country, and the Norwin Vets 2000 Memorial, located in front of the North Huntingdon Township Townhouse and dedicated to the honorable service of Norwin area veterans.

Norwin Veterans Day 2019 Shirts Now Available: Show your Support

Help show your support for Norwin veterans this Veterans Day Norwin schools are proud to host annual Veterans Day assemblies to recognize the service of Norwin veterans. This year we are offering these navy blue shirts in both short and long sleeve to help show our support. Twenty-five percent of all proceeds will be donated to veterans organizations.

Support the NSDCF and the Norwin Community through the 2019 Days of Giving

The Norwin School District Community Foundation is sponsoring its 2019 Days of Giving in conjunction with Norwin’s Homecoming Week festivities that include the Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet on Thursday night, the Homecoming Court and football game on Friday night, and the Homecoming parade on Saturday morning. This annual event provides an opportunity for you to give back to your school community through a tax-deductible donation for educational programs and scholarships benefitting Norwin students from Wednesday, September 25th through Sunday, September 29th.

Congratulations to our Luck & Loot Raffle Winner

The NSDCF would like to congratulate this year’s lucky NAFA Luck & Loot raffle winner, Jude Abraham. Jude was excited to take home $500 along with $100 in instant lottery tickets while helping support NAFA’s mission. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to help fund the Norwin Alumni & Friends Association’s annual scholarships for graduating Norwin students.

Congratulations to Rachel Milke, the 2019 David J. Nelson Memorial Scholarship Recipient

Rachel Milke, a member the Norwin High School Class of 2019, has been selected as this year’s recipient of the David J. Nelson Memorial Scholarship. Pictured during the scholarship presentation ceremony are Rachel, her parents, and Jeff and Lori Nelson. The NSDCF offers its congratulations to Rachel, and its best wishes as she continues on through college and beyond.

The selection process for the Third Annual Knight of Distinguished Alumni Recognition Dinner is well under way. Norwin has a long tradition of producing outstanding alumni, but some go even further in life. This event is a celebration of Norwin’s past, present, and future as we honor the achievements of some of our most distinguished alumni and a graduating student on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Stratigos Banquet Center.

NSDCF Donates to Local Norwin Veterans Organizations

Recently, the Norwin School District Community Foundation offered shirts to the Norwin community meant to celebrate and honor the sacrifices and service of our nation’s veterans with a unique Norwin design. At each of the Veteran’s Day assemblies held throughout the Norwin School District this year, veterans on stage were greeted with the sight of hundreds of Norwin students of all ages wearing shirts proudly declaring U__Knight__ed We Stand.
